 Zinc Plating
          

Zinc Plating prevents oxidation of the protected metal by forming a barrier and by acting as a sacrificial anode if this barrier is damaged.is a fine white dust that does not cause a breakdown of the substrate's surface integrity as it is formed. Indeed the zinc oxide, if undisturbed, can act as a barrier to further oxidation.  We offer rack and barrel plating in Blue, Yellow and Black.  top of page

 Cadmium Plating
                      

Cadmium Plating offers a long list of technical advantages such as excellent corrosion resistance even at relatively low thickness and in salt atmospheres, softness and malleability, freedom from sticky and/or bulky corrosion products, galvanic compatibility with aluminum, freedom from stick-slip thus allowing reliable torquing of plated threads, can be dyed to many colors and clear, has good lubricity and solderability, and works well either as a final finish or as a paint base.  top of page

 Chrome Plating
                     

Chrome plating utilizes the electrolytic deposition of chromium.  Most commonly used as a thin, decorative bright chrome, which is typically a 10-um layer over an underlying nickel plate.  When plating on iron or steel, an underlying plating of copper allows the nickel to adhere.  The pores (tiny holes) in the nickel and chromium layers also promote corrosion resistance.  Bright chrome imparts a mirror-like finish to items such as metal furniture frames and automotive trim.  Hard Chrome, up to 1000 um , is used in industrial equipment to reduce friction and wear.  top of page

 Precious Metal Plating
             

Gold and Silver plating is often used in electronics, to provide a corrosion-resistant electrically conductive layer on copper, typically in electrical connectors and printed circuit boards.  Silver plating is used for higher frequencies due to the skin effectVariable capacitors are considered of the highest quality when they have silver-plated plates.  Silver or Gold plating can be used to provide a cheaper version of items that might otherwise be made of silver or gold.  top of page

 Passivation
   

Passivation removes the surface contamination created when stainless steel is machined and fabricated. These contaminants can result in premature corrosion that could ultimately damage the component. In addition to surface cleaning, passivation forms a thin, transparent oxide coating that fights selective oxidation.  top of page

 Surface Prep (Pickling and Sandblasting)
                           

Pickling is a pretreatment step available for preparing an article for further processing such as passivation or electropolishing, or to perform a superior cleaning operation of welded structures.  Sandblasting is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contanimants.  top of page

 Powder Coating
              

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin".  It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.  top of page

 Galvanizing
             

Galvanization is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, in order to prevent rusting. Galvanization can be done with electrochemical, electrodeposition or hot-dip galvanization processes.  Most commonly used is hot-dip galvanization, in which steel parts are submerged in a bath of molten zinc.  top of page

 Black Oxide
                                 

Black oxide is a conversion coating for ferrous materials, copper and copper based alloys, zinc, powdered metals, and silver solder.  It is used to add mild corrosion resistance and for appearance.  To achieve maximum corrosion resistance the black oxide is impregnated with oil or wax.  One of its advantages over other coatings is its minimal buildup.            top of page
